What is Mindful Art?
Mindful art is generally defined as a creative practice that incorporates mindfulness techniques, such as deep breathing and the observation of your thoughts, sensations and emotions without judgement nor expectation.
By helping practitioners to be fully engaged in the present moment and become more self-aware, Mindful Art induces a state of mind called "Flow" that promotes relaxation and stress reduction. Its purpose is to cultivate a deeper connection with one's intuition and to develop a greater sense of inner peace and well-being.
At Toukan-Arthouse, we have an extended understanding of mindful art, not only as a creative process but also as a mindful experience for the artist and the spectator.
Mindful art reflects the artist's awareness of a certain idea, of the present moment when the artwork was created. It can express an observation or awareness of our present environment or society, leading sometimes to a more political or activist form of art, that resonates with the awareness of another person seeing the art.
Mindful art can also tap into someone's mind or emotions through its aesthetic, provoking a positive feeling or peaceful energy that could lead to a mental well-being in the long term.
At Toukan-Arthouse, we help you find the artwork that promotes the energy and state of mind you are thriving for.
